COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) Information # 15

Grand River Soccer Club continues to work in consultation with Ontario Soccer & Canada Soccer and the Government of Ontario, as we prepare for Return to Play 2021. We will keep the membership updated with the most recent developments surrounding our Return to Play Plan.

The Government of Ontario announced today that it is easing the restrictions on Outdoor Activities and has updated the framework for organized team sports.

As a result of this decision, at this time we are reviewing the updated framework with the Government Health and Sport authorities to provide clear direction to membership on what is allowed for sport.

COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) Information # 10

As of today, Saturday November 7th, the Province of Ontario is making changes on how sports facilities and leagues operate in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Our Club follows the guidelines set out by Ontario Soccer and our own Return to Play plan. There are club officials present to manage all our programs and work closely with our members to ensure a safe & enjoyable soccer experience.

Grand River Soccer Club is currently unaffected by these changes.

We continue to remain diligent on face masks, compliance with physical distancing, contact tracing reports and the availability of hand sanitizer at our locations.

COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) Information # 8

Last week Ontario Soccer announced that they received clearance from the Provincial Government and Canada Soccer to begin their Return to Play safety protocols. This message was met with mixed emotions throughout the soccer community. From the onset of the pandemic our foremost priority has been the health and safety of our members.

After much discussion, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of our 2020 Summer League Programs. This difficult decision was made after a careful and thorough analysis in consultation with the Sport Law & Strategy Group keeping our community’s overall best interests in mind.

Full refunds are being processed over the next 2-3 days but please allow 7-10 business days for credits to appear on your credit card.

We will continue to develop our Return to Play framework with the intent to offer skill development (SoccerFit) and other modified programs until Phase 3 when a full return to competition is declared safe.

We thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts, for your continued support and understanding during these challenging times. We’re in this together and we will play again. Until then, keep well and stay safe.

Best Regards,

Louie Antoniou
President
Grand River Soccer Club

COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) Information # 7

Dear Members,

Like you, we were excited to hear the announcement about moving into phase two of the province’s opening plan.

While the province says more businesses and services CAN re-open, it remains restrictive to training with no games or scrimmages for outdoor team sports. In addition, there are a number of factors locally that will need to be reviewed prior to stepping back on the field.

We are updating/reviewing our plan that includes considerations around safety, staffing, maintenance, and ensuring we are compliant with all regulations provided by Ontario Soccer, cities/townships, and Public Health.

We are all eager to get out there and return to sports, and it’s imperative for the health and safety of our members to ensure this is done with careful thought and consideration.

We will share more information as soon as we are able to.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate through these unprecedented times.

If you have any questions regarding the closure, please contact Kelly Schott at [email protected]

COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) Information # 6

Currently, Ontario Soccer has extended the suspension of all soccer activities in the Province until June 30. Cities in the region have announced that no field permits will be available until June 30th at the earliest.

Our volunteers and staff remain hard at work behind the scenes to provide solutions that are in the best interest of our members as we prepare for a shortened outdoor season. We thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we navigate this unprecedented situation. We are examining various scenarios that will allow our membership access to as much soccer as possible this summer.

In the event that we are not able to complete the summer season, we will be providing full refunds to our members, including all administrative fees. The mandate of the Club has always been to put our members first and it is important to do so now more than ever.

If you’re considering playing this summer, we encourage you to complete the online registration process by June 1, 2020 to help us plan the appropriate programs and divisions. Payment deadlines will be deferred until June 15, 2020 and will be reviewed regularly.

We encourage all members to protect themselves and practice social distancing while following the recommendations provided by the Government of Canada

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available. If you have any questions regarding the closure, please contact Kelly Schott at [email protected]
